Month ELEVEN

Wow! Only one more month and our little munchkin will be ONE! I can't believe it. She has blessed our lives so much in the eleven months she's been here, that I can't wait to see what God has in store for the future! This month lots of learning took place... especially in the vocabulary department. Calleigh tries to mimic everything! She truly is a little sponge soaking up everything around her, and it's so much fun teaching her new things.

This month's project wasn't Pinterest inspired either... but rather a home improvement project. Since we didn't have a designated area downstairs for Calleigh to play in, we decided to transform our formal living room into a play room. And what a room it has turned out to be! She has plenty of space for her and all her toys. After getting rid of some furniture and buying foam mats to cover the floor with (hardwood floor is no fun for a crawling/learning to walk baby!), all we have left to do is baby gate it off. We are in the process of installing one gate (separating the dining room from the play room), but the area by the stairs is tricky due to the style of banisters and stairs we have, and we aren't sure how to gate it off yet. So for now, it's blocked by chairs  :)

Calleigh's 11 Month Milestones:

  • sleeping 8-10 hours straight most nights
  • 6-9 months and 9 months clothes - 6 months and 6-9 months fit best, but she has SO many clothes that if I don't let her start wearing some of her 9 months stuff, even though it's too big, she won't be able to wear them due to the changing seasons.
  • size 3 diapers
  • caught RSV... which caused another double ear infection - my child just can't catch a break :( SO ready for cold and flu season to be over!!! she did really well with her breathing treatments though.
  • mimics everything - actions and sounds
  • LOVES to swing
  • likes to rock on her singing elephant - and figured out quickly how to slide safely off the back without help when she wants off
  • likes taking things out of drawers... time for more baby proofing!
  • blows kisses
  • says "wee" when something is fun (swinging or riding her elephant)
  • waves and says "hi" and "bye"
  • shakes her head and says "no no"
  • points at things - will point at Bella and say "get" and points and says "baby" every time she sees a baby, including herself in the mirror :)
  • says "beep beep" when honking the horn on her Disney princess car
  • says "yeah" and "PopPop"
  • first Valentine's Day

Poor baby didn't feel well at all :(
Being a good girl about her breathing treatments

Pulling clothes out of drawers... such a fun game

Month TEN

Yep, you read that right... TEN months! And what a month it was! More milestones were reached, as well as a big life event for our little munchkin. This month started out with a surgery... Calleigh had tubes put in her ears on January 10th to allow the persistent fluid in her middle ear to drain. While it was a very quick and routine procedure, there is nothing that can describe the fear of when nurses take your child from your arms and walk back to an operating room. Needless to say, there were tears from both Calleigh and I. The surgery was a huge success and we could tell a difference in a matter of days. Before getting tubes Calleigh was hearing at about 65-70% capacity. Two weeks after getting tubes, she passed her hearing tests with flying colors! Praise the Lord! It was neat to see her react to little sounds that she hadn't fully heard before. She goes back for a recheck in July, and we are hoping for another great report then.

This month's project was not Pinterest inspired, but rather Gigi (Travis's mom) inspired. One milestone immediately led to another this month, and after checking the stores for crib protection from teething and not having any luck due to the style of Calleigh's crib, I copied what Gigi had done to the crib at her house. I bought some soft fleece material to wrap between the slats, and voila! It's not the cutest project, but it works :) and should help save her furniture, which was designed and bought to grow with her (crib to toddler daybed to full size bed) from teeth marks!

Calleigh's 10 Month Milestones:

  • sleeping was back to normal (8-10 hours straight most nights)! since the pressure in her ears was finally relieved she had no more anxiety about laying down to go to sleep... and staying asleep :)
  • 6 months and 6-9 months clothes
  • size 2 diapers
  • tubes in ears
  • first time to throw up :( on me... at a birthday party, yuck!
  • drinks from sippy cup (1/3 juice and 2/3 water)
  • says "hi" and "uh-oh"
  • LOVES to play the "uh-oh" I dropped my sippy cup game
  • likes Gerber puffs - doesn't care for cheerios
  • plays in her walker - goes backwards
  • pulls up on things to stand
  • lowered her crib mattress... prompted by the previous milestone :) as well as teething proofing the crib
  • tries to stand without holding onto anything
  • gives kisses - slobbery open mouth sweet kisses :)
