Celebrating ONE Year!

I can't believe we have a ONE year old! Where did the time go??? We celebrated Calleigh's 1st birthday on Saturday, April 6 (the day after her actual birthday). It was so much fun! And as you can see from the picture above, Calleigh had a good time too :) We were able to celebrate her first year with most of our family and close friends. Thank you to all that came to share her special day with us!

Calleigh's 1st birthday theme was caterpillars... based on a stuffed animal caterpillar that she has that she loves and a cute outfit I saw on Etsy, lol! Her invitations, thank you notes, and gift tags were custom made from a lady in College Station, and then thanks to Pinterest, I had no shortage of ideas on how to decorate for her party! I started over Spring Break getting some of the decor made since I had the time off. And after each project was finished I always found an idea for another :) I really enjoyed being able to make it all. Calleigh's Nana made her birthday cake as well as the caterpillar cupcakes. She did such a great job! I just love how it all turned out!

ONE Year Photos

For Calleigh's ONE year photo shoot, we had the pleasure of working with Jennifer, from Jennuine Photos again. (She did our family photos for the holidays.) She is great with Calleigh and did another fantastic job! The photo shoot was at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve by our house, and proved to be the perfect setting. We LOVE how they all turned out!

Easter 2013

My what a difference a year makes! Calleigh was just three days old last Easter... and was taking her first steps this Easter! Minus the trip to Acute Kids Care for a double ear infection, I'd say Calleigh enjoyed all of the weekend's festivities :)

Easter - March 31, 2013

Easter weekend started off with her very first Oak Creek Estates egg hunt. Each year our HOA puts on a big egg hunt for the neighborhood kids. They actually do several events throughout the year for our kids... which is one of the many reasons why I love our neighborhood! Calleigh's cousins, Hannah and Averiegh, came over to join in the fun. All three of them picked up a 'special' egg and got a cool prize! Calleigh got to meet the Easter bunny for the first time and pet a real bunny. She loved them both!

Ready, set, go! Picking up her first egg!
She wanted to play with them as she picked them up :)

On Easter Sunday, Calleigh woke up to find that the Easter bunny had stopped by! He left her lots of fun toys... her favorite being her car :)

After eating breakfast, we got dressed, loaded up, and headed to Greenville to go to church and then down to the farm for our annual family Easter dinner and egg hunt. We enjoyed getting to see our 'other' church family on such a special day! And of course had fun spending the afternoon with our real family :)

Happy Easter!

Month ELEVEN

Wow! Only one more month and our little munchkin will be ONE! I can't believe it. She has blessed our lives so much in the eleven months she's been here, that I can't wait to see what God has in store for the future! This month lots of learning took place... especially in the vocabulary department. Calleigh tries to mimic everything! She truly is a little sponge soaking up everything around her, and it's so much fun teaching her new things.

This month's project wasn't Pinterest inspired either... but rather a home improvement project. Since we didn't have a designated area downstairs for Calleigh to play in, we decided to transform our formal living room into a play room. And what a room it has turned out to be! She has plenty of space for her and all her toys. After getting rid of some furniture and buying foam mats to cover the floor with (hardwood floor is no fun for a crawling/learning to walk baby!), all we have left to do is baby gate it off. We are in the process of installing one gate (separating the dining room from the play room), but the area by the stairs is tricky due to the style of banisters and stairs we have, and we aren't sure how to gate it off yet. So for now, it's blocked by chairs  :)

Calleigh's 11 Month Milestones:

  • sleeping 8-10 hours straight most nights
  • 6-9 months and 9 months clothes - 6 months and 6-9 months fit best, but she has SO many clothes that if I don't let her start wearing some of her 9 months stuff, even though it's too big, she won't be able to wear them due to the changing seasons.
  • size 3 diapers
  • caught RSV... which caused another double ear infection - my child just can't catch a break :( SO ready for cold and flu season to be over!!! she did really well with her breathing treatments though.
  • mimics everything - actions and sounds
  • LOVES to swing
  • likes to rock on her singing elephant - and figured out quickly how to slide safely off the back without help when she wants off
  • likes taking things out of drawers... time for more baby proofing!
  • blows kisses
  • says "wee" when something is fun (swinging or riding her elephant)
  • waves and says "hi" and "bye"
  • shakes her head and says "no no"
  • points at things - will point at Bella and say "get" and points and says "baby" every time she sees a baby, including herself in the mirror :)
  • says "beep beep" when honking the horn on her Disney princess car
  • says "yeah" and "PopPop"
  • first Valentine's Day

Poor baby didn't feel well at all :(
